Wanting to Get the Car of Your Dreams? Here’s How

June 14, 2015 by Editor

Let’s face it: Not every one of us could simply get everything we want on a whim.

Even getting a car is a much harder thing to do for many of us. So, unless you have dollars to spare in your bank account, here are some helpful tips for eventually driving the car of your dreams.

Searching and Researching

Just because a sedan costs way much more than what you can handle doesn’t mean you end up hopeless. Better deals on used cars are everywhere. But of course, you need to get geared up to search and spot the best deal around. And once you find that prospect, the next steps would be intensive research and testing.

Thoroughly check the car’s exterior and interior. From the inside, check for any smell of mildew or mold as this may indicate previous flooding. When checking the doors, make sure that each door is aligned with the body, as any misalignment could indicate past accidents and major repairs. Major impacts usually cause a little warping of the automobile’s body.

Then comes the car’s history. Of course, you can’t just do the guesswork, trying to go into the car’s history by just checking it’s physical appearance and performance. In Australia you can always obtain an automobile’s history report using the vehicle identification number (VIN) and running it through the PPSR database. You’ll know whether the used car for sale was written off, stolen or is still tied to financial encumbrances.

Impulse Control: Know When to Spend

You might not easily notice it, but your impulsive spending could result in accumulated expenses that might just surprise you at the end of the day. Yes, we understand that going out and about and splurging on the things you love are what keeps you happy after all. But if you want to save up for something, say, a car of your choice, self-control is the key to inching yourself closer to your dream.

So, how do you keep track and impose some realistic limitations to your cravings? One tip that you might find helpful is listing down all your expenses every day. You’ll notice that those daily trips to coffee shops with your friends really add up to hundreds of dollars every month. After getting concrete ideas on where your expenses go, it’s time to take control and limit your daily habits like cutting off your coffee shop routines to just three times a week for the first month, then reducing the frequency the following months. You’ll be surprised at how much savings you get in the end.

Save Up (And Use a Dedicated Bank Account)

If you need to do the extra mile just to get those savings racking up, then it’s time to try opening a special bank account. And every pay day, set aside a certain amount to be transferred to that account, but make sure you leave some for yourself — just a realistic amount to keep those expenses down without starving yourself, of course.

Launch a Garage Sale

We all have these clothes, gadgets or any other assets we no longer need or use. Why not earn some more cash by selling them? Whether you have a library of all those old books or a closetful of clothes you no longer wear, a garage sale can always add to your savings. No matter how minimal the amount is, you’d be happy to see your savings grow as weeks or months pas.

The Bottom Line

Saving up and earning a little more are the key to getting that car of your dreams. After all, nothing could be more satisfying than driving your own car you bought with all your hard-earned cash.

How to Avoid Worst Car Buying Mistakes

June 12, 2015 by Editor

Thinking about buying your very first car? Driving your own sedan or SUV down the road might be one of the most exciting things you’d ever do, but before you even hand over your hard-earned money to the car dealer, here are some helpful tips for avoiding potentially costly car-buying mistakes.

Brand New Vs. Secondhand Cars

Owning a flashy, brand-new automobile always feels blissful and euphoric. But the moment you drive your baby down the road for the very first time, you immediately lose about 20% of its value or an equivalent price ranging from $3,000 to $7,000, depending on the make and model. So how do you skip the steep drop? It’s as simple as buying a used car for sale, but at the same time, making sure it comes from a reliable dealer or previous owner. But how do you even make sure of that? Here’s the second tip.

Do Your Homework: Research

Now, when you set your eyes on your potentially favorite choice of used car, do your research before you even buy it. First, ask the dealer if you can test-drive it, and check each part and component, starting from the exterior, then to the interior, and then the engine section. Or, better yet, obtain the vehicle identification number (VIN) and look it up through an online company like Carfax or PPSR. A quick check can give you lots of information such as whether the car was stolen, was written off or is still tied to financial encumbrances.

When Paying Loans, Do the Math

When buying more expensive cars, keep in mind that interest rates are higher especially for longer payment terms. For example, you may be facing about the same monthly payment when paying for a $25,000 car for five years as when paying a $16,000 vehicle for three years. But the one with the higher price tag carries the most interest. So, make sure you do the math clearly, or thoroughly ask the salesperson about which option is the most financially sound for you.

Avoid Dealer Add-Ons

Add-ons such as car alarm systems, window tints, chrome wheels, undercoating and leather seats might come with hefty price tags if they’re offered by your dealer. Unfortunately, many owners still fall for these unnecessarily expensive features, when proper research could lead you to better deals elsewhere in the first place. And, depending on the particular additional feature, you could possibly hurt your car’s resale value especially if the dealer’s offers include major modifications from the original design of the vehicle.

The Bottom Line

All these tips lead you to saving yourself from possibly and hundreds or even thousands dollars worth of costly mistakes. After all, spending for a car does not mean subjecting yourself to further unnecessary expenses. It’s about enjoying the automobile you deserve in the first place, nothing else.

What you need to Know before Purchasing Used Car

June 3, 2015 by Editor

When buying a used car, a wise buyer must bear in mind that it is a significant decision that he is about to make and includes a considerable amount of money that is why the buying process requires full concentration and focus on the important details that deal with it.

Getting yourself your own car, whether it is secondhand or brand new will definitely allow you the pleasure of traveling anywhere you want anytime.  When you’re able to get your own vehicle you will be able to travel to places and with work or even find work, it’s a great advantage. But what are the things

you need to know before purchasing your used car?

When the budget, car model, and all the connected details are complete with your planned used car buying the next thing you need to know is the registration process of the vehicle you are about to purchase.

You must be able to clearly learn how the registration would go, the requirements, and all the other documents you need to present in order to get your registration done. After getting the list of requirements, check with the dealer if all those are available so that you can have the vehicle registered without the hassle.

Anywhere in the world, there exists a strict law that every vehicle on the road must be registered. And in case you purchased a registered pre-loved car, you will have to pay a transfer fee within 2 weeks or 14 days after purchase.

Different countries and states provide government websites where that offer information regarding vehicle registration in order for people to have easy access to the requirements, fees, and other registration and insurance information.

It is an advantage to conduct research and visit the website for your planned used car buying especially when you plan to buy from another state so that you will clearly identify their rules and requirements.

The next thing that you have to know well with your used car buying is the type or car model. This is not just to identify the prize or the efficiency and popularity of the vehicle but also to know the availability of spare parts for the used car model. You can never be 100% sure that what you have purchased will remain and maintain a good running condition.

There will come a time that you ought to change some parts to keep it running smoothly. If you’re able to buy the popular model surely, there will be no worries about finding a spare part in case you need one.

A wise buyer gathers information before getting into the deal and once in it being alert to all details will give your dollar a fair value.

Important Things to Remember Before Buying a Used Car

May 29, 2015 by Editor

Buying used car is not a simple thing as it may seem. It demands to be keen at all times on all aspects of the buying process. You have to make sure that you are making a good deal and that you’ll be paying the fair price for the right kind of used car. In line with the many things that need to be done just before closing the deal, the most important aspect is to have a test drive with the car. And during the test drive always remember that while driving always keep your mind and eyes open for possible flaws of the vehicle. Keep in mind that as a buyer you need to bring the car on all types of roads and highways in order to assess the cars capabilities and if it’s going to fit your driving habit.

Before driving, inspect the physical and mechanical attributes of the car. Walk around it to see if there are scratches or rusts and areas that needs paint repair. Care to check the trunk if it’s able to accommodate your baggage whenever you drive. Give the driver’s seat a test too. Make sure you’re comfortable in it before driving. Don’t forget to adjust the mirrors and check if the air conditioning and radio controls are within reach.

When you request for a test drive make sure that the right agenda is the one that you have set. Don’t allow the seller to manipulate your road choices because you wouldn’t know if there are any hidden issues when driving the car on rocky roads or with the breaks or many other things. Test driving the car before paying for it will allow you to identify problem with the car. Take a recorder so that you can easily remember what you liked and dislike and the things that requires check up with your mechanic.

During the test drive, make sure you get on uphill to make sure that the car is able to give you a good acceleration. Remember not to bring along the whole family during the test drive they may distract you on the main reason why you have the test drive and you are required to give in your 100% attention. Bring a long your wife or partner whom you can share thoughts and ideas with the car. Negotiate for a considerably long test drive even for half an hour. Inspect if the changing tire tools are still complete in the vehicle. These tools will be your best buddies when driving.

Important questions to ask the Dealer when buying used car

May 22, 2015 by Editor

Buying used car is not just as simple as having one two steps, you must find the right car and then you pay for it. Easier said than done, buying used cars requires a lot of things and some homework just before closing the deal. An advance research on the internet, magazines or books that deals with used car buying will be a great source of the information you might need.

As a shopper it is your right to ask questions regarding the car’s history and many other things related to the car that you would like to buy. And the most important things to ask a dealer are the following:

Where or who was the vehicle purchased from?

In cases where a car is purchased from an auction, make sure that it pass through a professional mechanic who specializes in inspecting used cars to make sure that what you are buying is a good catch and will not give you headache right after paying for it. Ask for the maintenance record of the car if it came from a dealership. This way, you can easily make an assessment regarding the car’s efficiency and the cost of future maintenance.

How long will you allow for a Test Drive?

Always request for a drive test and make sure to negotiate for a long test drive as much as half an hour. This is the only way to see if the vehicle will fit your driving habits and if there’s any hassle while driving the car and if there’s any flaw that you will find feel free to back out. Remember that you are the customer and customers are always right.

How much is the used car?

This is the ultimate question to ask. You should be able to do your homework before buying used car. This way even if the dealer gives you a relatively high price for the car model you can easily know that it is overpriced. And when the dealer gives you a fair price for the used car, ask for any possible discount if you will have the deal on cash basis. Dealers usually offer financing because they make profit from it and if that is the case don’t hesitate to ask them what kind of consideration they will give you for doing the financing with them.

Are there freebies upon purchase?

Ask if there’s anything you can get out of the dealership. Sometimes a set of new tires, a full tank of gas or a timing belt is given for free to a shopper.

Do you take trade-ins?

This will surely be a lot easy if the dealership will handle this for you. Don’t let yourself get tied up in trying to selling your own used car, especially if it’s not your forte.

Being nineteen (and partner 21) at the time, and buying a car from a dealer, I thought we would be up against folk who treated us with little respect. This was absolutely not the case here! The first car we looked at on our hunt was the one we ended up buying. We've had it close to a year now, and put an additional 70,000km on it, completely trouble free. Thanks guys.read more

Was a little nervous about buying a used vehicle but these guys really made me feel welcome. Sold me a great car at a great price with some generous extras (warranty, RACV cover etc) and gave me a very reasonable price for my old one. Car had a little issue that needed fixing (it happens with second hands) but they were very nice and apologetic about it. Had the issue resolved promptly, no-questions-asked and now it runs wonderfully. Really exemplary after-sales service. Would go there again.read more

I appreciate AJ and Scott over at cool core radiators for doing such a great job. Also a special thanks to Paul at JZ motors for being a great guy and professional, even after I sent some rude messages. Thanks guys, I appreciate all the support.read more

Last Friday I turned up at JZ Motors. I was greeted straight away by Paul. I told him what I was looking for, he pointed me directly to what I had in mind. Details of the vehicles were explained in real person terms, so I understood he said. I test drove 3 Toyota’s and ended up choosing a Camry. Whilst we were in the I met with Jeff, the owner and the deal was done. I’m extremely happy with my new car and very impressed with the way I was treated. I would recommend JZ Motors to anyone. If you want a typical cars salesman that will say anything to close the deal, then please keep walking. But if you can handle a dose of straight shooting, down to earth guys, then you might get a good laugh and a damn good car too. Well worth the extra drive to get there.read more

I bought my Defender 130 from Paul and Jeff...They were bombarded with calls from the "Defender Crazies" but I was the lucky one to get it. It's 15 years old Defender so has it's issues but they sorted out Fuel Pump, Doors, new brakes, full service, light switch and a number of small items before I took delivery! The doors were still an issue but they were happy to give it another go and it was sorted, no questions asked. I've since asked for their advice on a number of improvements I've wanted to make to it and they were great at putting me in touch with local shops and arranging good prices. Thanks Guys...Let me know first when you get your hands on another Defender and thanks for all the favours!read more
